Our Story

How it all started...

Pickett's Mill Baptist Church began as a small church start-up in 1992. Originally called Grace Baptist Church, Pickett's Mill was formed by a group of believer's who began gathering together and wanted a church that showed the community the grace of God.

During the American Civil War, as General Sherman and the Union forces made their way to Atlanta, they were stalled by Confederate Troops at Pickett's Mill. For over 150 years, the surrounding community has adopted the name, "Pickett's Mill." As God moved in the church and it grew, the members of Grace Baptist Church renamed the church to Pickett's Mill Baptist Church to represent the area in which they gathered.

Pickett's Mill Baptist Church has always had a heart to reach the Paulding County community and for over 30 years God has blessed the church continually as the gospel of Jesus Christ is declared and shared by this local church.

Serving the community...

As God blesses the church, the church blesses others.
Pickett's Mill Baptist Church exists to reach our community with the life-giving message of truth that is the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. As the church endeavors to serve others with the love of God, and reach them with the truth of God's Word, every effort will be made to impact the community surrounding the church.

Regular outreach events are a part of the culture of Pickett's Mill. No matter the season, there is always a community event that is opening the doors to the church and building bridges into the lives of others.

The 3 Pillars of Vision for Pickett's Mill are Loving God, Serving Others, and Growing Together. Every church is a local family of believers, and our goal is to grow our family to be stronger and larger to the glory of God.

Where we are headed...

Pickett's Mill Baptist Church hinges on the belief that "the gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation, to every one that believes..." (Romans 1:16). Because of this, the preaching of God's Word is central to the ministries and services of the church. Whether it's a small group, a worship service or Vacation Bible School - the clear and consistent teaching of the Bible is the center of everything we do.

Pastor Johnny Nix has been the lead Pastor of Pickett's Mill Baptist Church for over 7 years. During his tenure, he has overseen numerous remodels within the church, including the main auditorium, a growth in family discipleship and Sunday School programs, and has added ministries such as the Learning Tree - a Bible based Parents' Day Out Program.

The central focus of God's Word is the redemption of mankind back to God. This is only possible through the completed work of Jesus Christ, whereby he obtained salvation for everyone who would follow Him by faith. Picket's Mill Baptist Church will continue to move forward in reaching it's community and supporting local and global missions as the Gospel message remains at the center of our story and mission.
